Brooklyn’s Maths learning story
Term 3 2019
How do we solve a tricky math problem as a group?
Eluama
First, we added up all the whole numbers on the trees that Eluama climbed which were 3+3+2=8 Then we added up the decimal numbers 0.6+.97+.57=1.60 Then I did 1.60 + 8 = 9.60
His friend.
We solved it the same way as Eluama.
First, we added the whole numbers on the trees that his friend climbed which was 2+3+4=9 Then we added the decimal numbers which is .97+0.8+.32=? Then I did .30+.90+0.8=1.28
Then I did 0.7+0.2=0.9
After that I did 0.9+1.28=1.37
After that I did 1.37 + 9 = 10.37.
And we found out that his friend climbed the most that day.I want you to know that I am good at sharing my ideas with others so they can get another idea and move on with their work.
I am also good at asking questions because if I don’t know what to do or don’t understand I can ask someone to explain to me in a different way or again.
The key competency I use well was relating to others because I help my group to understand, get ideas and stay on the waka.
I want you to know that I need to work on staying on task because when it is time for a group to share back I always sit by people that I know I am going to talk to.
The key competency that will help me next time is managing myself so I can make the right choices about not talking about the wrong stuff.
I want you to know that I find it hard to not go off task in my group because I get distracted easily.
Eteuati’s Feedback
You were good at sparking our group's ideas because every time we start you have an idea that gives our group a good idea that can help our group move on.
You needed to work on explaining your idea because when you have an idea you don’t explain it before you write it down so we understand.
